Channel Zero

A collage of eleven digital illustrations depicts a music and adventure theme. The top row shows a person DJing, a rapper recording in a studio, and a person working at a music production setup. The middle row features a colorful boombox with musical notes, a neon sign with the text "Frank + Tyler's Excellent Adventure," and a person reading a book with holographic visuals. The bottom row depicts hands holding a fishing net, two people walking toward a sunrise, and a person seated on a sofa with clothing and a question mark above their head.

Channel Zero was a musician’s collective that I designed for from 2021-2023.

While working with Channel Zero, one of my coworkers introduced me to an artist named Tyler Soze. He was looking for an album cover designer for a new project he was working on with Frank The Phre$h. He sent me some of his songs, and I remember listening to all of them on a long bus ride from DC to New York. The flow was so infectious, I found myself bopping my head along without even realizing. I fell in love with the music, and I thought the lyrics were well-written, so I was excited to jump into illustration.

He wanted the cover to seem a little bit like a comic, so I started by creating the linework drawings in Adobe illustrator.

I exported the linework onto a transparent background, then colored between the lines in photoshop. The whole process took about a month or two.

After focusing on each individual tile, I put them all together into a final presentation that depicts Frank and Tyler’s creative process. I overlayed images of a broken CD in areas, such as on the notebook and stereo speakers, in order to add more dimension to the piece.

Channel Zero: Immortal

In the Summer of 2022, we hosted a live show with all of the musicians that were within our collective. I created the background visuals for the DJ sets as well as the merch. The theme was immortality and I was asked to feature imagery of Greek statues.
